ACEs Stack the Deck...How Home Affects the Classroom

Thumbnail Uploaded by Jennifer Martin, 6/23/15 4:04 PM How many tests have you taken and given in your lifetime? What if we told you there are just a few questions that can forever change generations of children, educators, and professionals? This workshop will review the groundbreaking study of Adverse Childhood Experiences and the impact of an experience like child abuse and neglect on the developing child's behavior, socialization, and learning in the classroom. This will be a unique class of learning how to identify risks of child abuse and neglect in students while also learning different approaches to empower a student's social emotional needs and challenges if they are facing trauma and stress. Join us as we talk about our experiences with administering the Adverse Childhood Experiences questionnaire to our community and how it impacts you and the future of your students.
